Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Cattleya Counseling accepts most Optum and Point 32 commercial insurance plans in Massachusetts (this includes but is not limited to Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, United, Oscar) and Blue Cross Anthem in New Hampshire.

Unfortunately at this time it does not include Mass General Brigham, Medicaid, or public insurance plans. Cattleya Counseling is in the process of credentialing with Point 32 in New Hampshire.

If your plan has out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your provider for potential partial or full reimbursement. I also accept HSA and FSA cards.

What is the out-of-pocket cost without insurance?

For individual therapy, the 60-minute intake session is $160 and following 55-minute sessions are $150.

For group therapy, 60-minute sessions are offered on a sliding scale from $15-$55. More information is available under “Services” page.

Do you offer sliding scale or reduced fees?

Limited sliding scale spots are available for individual therapy from $100 to $145 per session for those who cannot afford the full standard rate.

What populations do you work with?

I work with adults. In my clinical experience I have supported individuals ranging from 18 to 99 years old. A majority of my experience however is with those who are 18 to 50 years old. I see individuals of all identities and have a lot of experience working with marginalized persons such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, chronically ill, and disabled. I also am passionate about working with adoptees and other members of the adoption constellation such as adoptive parents.

What is your therapy approach?

I practice from an eclectic approach that is individualized for each person’s unique needs. The primary approaches I use are compassion-focused, somatic, and liberation-oriented. I am Internal Family Systems informed. I also draw from mindfulness-based and attachment-based approaches.

Do you offer an initial consultation?

Yes, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation. This call can help us explore if it might be a good fit to move forward. You can e-mail me at carmen@cattleyacounseling.org.
